I’m Greg, and I’ve been farming since 2014, and before that I was a mining engineer. I know that seems like an odd transition, but essentially I just had my mid-life crisis early. Even before I became a farmer I was plugged into the local food scene, and spent my weekends volunteering at the UBC Farm and Vancouver Farmers’ Markets. I’ve been living on the island since 2014, and spent most of that time growing vegetables with Farmship Grower’s Cooperative (who are now also our neighbours). When it came time to strike out on our own, we saw that fresh local flowers was a niche that nobody in the Nanaimo-Ladysmith area was really filling, and the larger floral-industrial complex suffered from the same issues that attracted me to farming food in the first place - overuse of pesticides, world-spanning supply chains and a lack of connection between the land, grower and consumer.

And this is the rest of the farm family. Jessa is Greg's partner, and works as a midwife and life coach in Nanaimo-Ladysmith, as well as helping with business advice and floral arranging. And our two kids, Linden and Mira.
